Technical solutions & Engineering Excellence

Over four decades of excellence in ship repair, conversion, and marine engineering services across Greek and international shipyards, Eurelmec has worked with all major shipping companies in all major shipyards providing excellence in engineering, having cooperated with major organizations like NATO, Greek Navy and most port authorities in ASWP (All Safe World Ports) basis.

Prime Examples of Our Work

The Invention of the Floating Separator – TASSOS II (IMO 8663652)

Our legacy is defined by engineering solutions where others see obstacles. This is best demonstrated through the engineering of TASSOS II (IMO 8663652). Rejecting the limitations of standard waste transport, we conceptualized and designed the world’s first mobile Floating Oily Residue Treatment Facility by inventing a proprietary onboard gravimetric separation system.

This breakthrough in-situ separation technology revolutionized the Port of Thessaloniki, earning the Honorary Award of Environmental Excellence and setting a new international benchmark for MARPOL compliance. Today, TASSOS II stands as a multi-award-winning Thessaloniki Compliance Model certified by the Greek Ministry and recognized by HELMEPA.

Marine Casualties, Salvage Operations & Claims Management

Our company has extensive experience managing complex marine casualty cases, including salvage operations, cargo recovery, and insurance claim management. Through coordinated technical planning and operational expertise, we handle incidents that involve environmental risks, port disruptions, and large-scale insurance exposure.

Case Study: M/V Star Luck (IMO 7396305)

Location: Puerto Quequén / Necochea, Argentina
Year: 2005

Our company managed a complex marine casualty case arising from the grounding of M/V Star Luck during her departure from Puerto Quequén in May 2005. The incident resulted in prolonged immobilization of the vessel, operational disruption at the port, and significant technical, environmental, and insurance exposure.

The case required coordinated management of salvage operations, cargo recovery procedures, ship-to-ship (STS) transfers, and high-value insurance claims under demanding operational conditions.
